Our hometown

A Wise County dealer, based in Paradise

Paradise started in 1873 as a settlement called Eldorado, took the name Paradise Prairie when its post office opened in 1876, and moved about a mile in 1893 to meet the new Rock Island Railroad. It's still a small town, with its own school district and SH 114 running through on the way from Bridgeport to Boyd and Rhome.

That makes it a good spot for a dealership. Paradise sits near the middle of a county that covers about 900 square miles, so most Wise County households are 10 to 30 minutes from our lot instead of an hour from the big Fort Worth stores.

Our sales lot and repair shop share one property on Co Rd 3470. Every vehicle goes through that shop before it's listed, and the same technicians handle your oil changes, brakes and diagnostics afterward, including European car repair for the German brands. Our service department works on everyday cars and trucks, too.

Local wear and tear

What Wise County driving does to a vehicle

A car that spent its life on Dallas freeways wears differently from one that lived on Wise County roads. These are the things we look for before a vehicle goes on our lot, and the things worth checking on any used car you're considering out here.

Gravel county roads

Plenty of the county lives off a numbered county road, and many of them are gravel or caliche. That is hard on tires, shocks, struts, ball joints and alignment, and the dust clogs engine and cabin air filters. Uneven tire wear is the giveaway.

Rock trucks

The quarries around Bridgeport and Chico supply much of the crushed stone used across Dallas–Fort Worth, and loaded haul trucks are part of daily traffic. Chipped windshields come with living here, so look at the glass and the wipers on any car you're considering.

Lease-road miles

Gas wells are scattered across this part of the Barnett Shale, and the pumpers, haulers and contractors who work them pile up miles on caliche lease roads. Those miles show up first in brakes, tires, suspension and the underbody.

Deer and hail

Whitetails cross FM roads at dawn and dusk, most of all in the fall, and spring storms bring hail. Both leave damage a quick walk-around can miss. Check the title for a salvage or rebuilt brand and look along the roof and hood in good light.

Around the county

From the Grasslands to the 114 corridor

Wise County is ranch land, quarry country, gas fields and fast-growing suburbs, sometimes all within a few miles. Here's how it looks from our lot.

South county

15–30 min

Rhome · Newark · Aurora · Boyd

US-287 and SH 114 meet in Rhome, and this end of the county is growing quickly, with new neighborhoods and a daily drive toward Alliance, Texas Motor Speedway and Fort Worth. Commuters here want fuel-efficient cars and comfortable SUVs with plenty of highway life left. Newark has a footnote in energy history, too: Mitchell Energy's C.W. Slay No. 1, drilled nearby in 1981, was the first Barnett Shale well.

North county

20–40 min

Alvord · Chico · Slidell

The LBJ National Grassland, most of it in Wise County, covers more than 20,000 acres in scattered tracts, with 75 miles of horse, hiking and bike trail out of the TADRA Point trailhead near Alvord and fishing at Black Creek Lake. Getting there means Forest Service gravel. Folks up here pull horse and stock trailers, hunt in the fall and drive a lot of unpaved miles, so towing capacity and ground clearance matter.

The county seat

15 min

Decatur

Decatur is where county business happens: the 1896 granite courthouse on the square, with a Chisholm Trail marker on its grounds, the Wise County Youth Fair, and the Old Settlers Reunion at Joe Wheeler Park the last full week of July, a tradition that dates to 1881. On US-287 Business, the Texas Tourist Camp's petrified-wood service station still stands, built for the first generation of motorists passing through. See our used cars in Decatur page for more.

West county

10–20 min

Bridgeport · Runaway Bay · Lake Bridgeport

Bridgeport is our closest neighbor, about 10 minutes up SH 114, with the lake communities just past it. We cover what lake-country buyers need on our used cars in Bridgeport page.

Buying in Wise County

Inspections, paperwork and price

Buying a used car here works a little differently than it does in the metro counties next door.

No inspection to schedule

Texas ended safety inspections for personal vehicles on January 1, 2025, and Wise County isn't one of the counties that still require an emissions test. A car registered here just needs its registration renewed, with the $7.50 inspection replacement fee collected at the same time. Buyers registering in Denton, Parker or Tarrant County still need an annual emissions test.

Out-the-door pricing

The price on our vehicles is the out-the-door price: sales tax, title and metal plates are included. We file the title and registration for you, so there's no separate trip to the county tax office.

Financing for how the county works

Ranch and seasonal income, oilfield and quarry jobs, 1099 contract work, commuters and first-time buyers from Paradise, Boyd or Chico ISD. Several lenders look at every application, and plenty of approvals land the same day.

Trade-ins and warranty plans

A work truck with lease-road miles or an SUV with a few hail dings still has trade value. We appraise on the spot and apply it straight to your purchase, and warranty plans are available on every vehicle we sell.

FAQ

Common Questions From Wise County Buyers

Where in Wise County is Paradise-Performance?

In Paradise, at 305 Co Rd 3470, near the middle of the county. Bridgeport is about 10 minutes away, Decatur and Boyd about 15, Chico and Runaway Bay about 20, Rhome and Aurora about 25, and Alvord and Newark about 30.

Do I need a vehicle inspection in Wise County?

Not for a personal vehicle. Texas ended safety inspections for non-commercial vehicles on January 1, 2025, and Wise County isn't an emissions-testing county, so you just renew your registration and pay the $7.50 inspection program replacement fee with it. Commercial vehicles still need an annual safety inspection.

Is your listed price the out-the-door price?

Yes. Our listed prices include sales tax, title and metal plates, and we handle the title and registration paperwork for you.

Do you carry trucks and SUVs for county roads and towing?

Most of our inventory is SUVs and cars, plus trucks when we find good ones, and it changes often. Tell us what you pull, whether that's a stock trailer, a horse trailer or a camper, and we'll point you to vehicles that fit or let you know when one comes in.

Do you finance seasonal, oilfield or self-employed income?

Yes. Seasonal and ag income, oilfield and contract pay, self-employment, bad credit and no credit are all situations our lenders work with, and many buyers get an answer the same day.

What kind of used vehicle holds up best on Wise County roads?

If you live off a gravel county road or drive lease roads for work, look at an SUV or truck with all-wheel or four-wheel drive, good tires and decent ground clearance. If most of your miles are SH 114 or US-287 toward Fort Worth, a fuel-efficient sedan or crossover will cost less to run. Tell us how you drive and we'll match you to what's on the lot.

Can you service my vehicle after I buy it?

Yes. The shop sits on the same property as our lot, so maintenance, diagnostics and major repairs, European cars included, happen a few steps from where you bought the car. We also work on vehicles bought elsewhere.
